Richard C. Woods
Richard Clinton Woods, 61, of Galt died Dec. 21, 2007 of natural causes. He was born May 21, 1946 in Oregon.
A resident of the area for five years, he had previously resided in San Ramon for 14 years and was employed in construction sales. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he enjoyed photography, reading, golfing and Internet technology.
Surviving Mr. Woods are his daughters, Renee Mangon of Washington, Nicole Woods of Arizona and Kris Smith of California; two brothers and three sisters.
A memorial service will be held Jan. 26, 2008 at 4 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church at Third and B streets in Galt. Ben Salas Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
John W. German
John William German, 92, of Galt died in Lodi on Jan. 8, 2008 of heart failure. He was born in Sisseton, S.D., on June 3, 1915 to Henry and Esther German.
Mr. German had lived in Valley Springs from 1942 to 2004 and moved to Galt three years ago. He retired as a miller at a cement plant and had served as a member of the Valley Springs school board and was past fire chief of the Valley Springs Volunteer Fire Department. He loved to fish and read western books.
Surviving him are sons, Everett and John; daughter, Marilyn; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A chapel service was held Jan. 12 at Ben Salas Funeral Home with Rev. Mary Sanders officiating. A committal service was held Jan. 14 at Double Springs Cemetery in Calaveras County. Ben Salas Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
