Gladys J. Chapin
- Gladys J. Chapin
Gladys Jean Chapin, 76, passed away peacefully in her sleep May 11, 2007 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto after a short illness. She was born Gladys Jean Fleshman on March 5, 1931 in Lodi.
Mrs. Chapin was raised in Galt and attended all Galt schools. She made her home in Stockton for more than 50 years before moving with her daughter and family to Oakdale. She was a teacher with the Stockton Unified School District for more than 35 years, the last several as a vice principal. She retired in the late ’80s to do some traveling with her late husband. Her favorite things were sewing, knitting and crocheting. She was also a fan of fishing since her husband introduced that pastime to her during their courtship. She was a member of the Dameron Auxiliary since 1992 and had served one term as its president. She was a lifetime member and a past president of the sorority Beta Sigma Phi.
Surviving her are a daughter, Susan Sargis of Oakdale; son, David Chapin of Stockton; three grandsons; sisters, Lucille Welch and Adelia Fleshman; brothers, Gerald Fleshman and Vernon Fleshman.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Melvin J. Chapin in 1997, her mother and father, and one brother.

Francisca Nunez
Francisca Nunez, 40, of Galt died June 19, 2007 of natural causes at a Sacramento hospital. She was born Oct. 4, 1966 in Tamazula, Durango, Mexico.
Mrs. Nunez was a homemaker and has lived in Galt for 20 years. She was a member of St. Christopher’s Catholic Church and enjoyed dancing.
Surviviors are her husband, Epifanio Nunez of Galt; children, Eden, Alexander, Natalie and Marcos Nunez of Galt; brothers, Benito Duran and Josemaria Aispuro of Arizona.
Mass of Christian burial was held Monday at St. Christopher’s, officiated by Father Jerry Ryle. Committal followed at Hicksville Cemetery on Arno Road.

Pete Ceccarini
Pete Ceccarini, 78, of Galt died June 19, 2007 after a long illness. He was born April 5, 1929 in Stockton.
Mr. Ceccarini was a grain farmer and member of Cal West Seed. He received many awards for crop production. He enjoyed game hunting.
Surviving him are his wife of 57 years, Patricia; daughter, Teresa (Jeff) Lopes, Anita Ceccarini, Virginia (Gary) Twardy and Barbara (Jeff); eight grandchildren, including Brandon Mathews, Debbie Renaud, David Lopes, Erica Castelli, Paula Twardy, Joey Trull, Grant Twardy; and 11 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Guisepe and Teresa Ceccarini; and brothers, Lido, Levio and Frances Ceccarini.
Ben Salas handled arrangements. Committal took place Friday at Galt Cemetery.
